Listen, it’s not complicated necessarily - once you know roughly what to do - but it is hard work.  Getting the key words into every breath (often feeling self conscious as one guilds the lily - just staying this side of acceptable English language), fiddling with the PPC (settings, ads, adgroups, keywords, geography and so on and on), one fiddly bit at a time and measuring and watching… Yes it’s labourious.

Or laborious - which is it?

People either get too anxious or too impatient.  It’s not an ad in tomorrow’s Sun newspaper.  Thank goodness. But even if there is often some gratification quite speedily (and we all want a good gratification once in a while) most of it is wait and see and slow but sure improvements until you win - if you get it right.

So what am I saying here? Should I know…

What I’m saying is, that if you want your website to perform, then you want someone on your side who’s interested hard working and not just charging by the hour (or worse charging by the month and watching the hours) and who stops because they’ve spent a few minutes too much on your account.  You want someone with more committment than sense who wants to get it right and will stick with it and as soon as possible.

Now how wise is that?  How web wise?  It’s not wise I suppose, it’s old fashioned dedication.

In the last few days while writing a monthly report and checking later in the midst of a new propsoal to further the business, I’m pleased to say that wiseness has taken The Decorative Fair to the top spot out of 70,010,000 results for the search “antiques fair”.

Now that’s an achievement - even if it is temporary…  It was there a few days ago and I didn’t get a screen grab.  I didn’t make the same mistake twice as you can see from the above.

What’s more - and even I cannot really believe this - is that we’re position 3 for “antiques”.  Given that they know where I live, but that’s all sites searched, worldwide with no filters!  Not bad: 3rd of 82,000,100.  Oh well; all in a day’s work…

PS By the time anyone else checks it’ll have moved - but it was there!

wiseness has been neglecting itself as is always the way (or so everyone else always tells me…)

All the above searches for clients are big wins for them in their quest to be found on the “tinternet” all being page one impressions for the elusive generic searches.  Many are in the first three and some are in that prized number one position.  All the results are the results of gret value wiseness in action…

As briefly mentioned before, wiseness  is now doing some on-line PR. A couple of months ago a retail client asked if I’d do some on-line PR and although it’s not one of the generally offered wiseness services, it does fall into a broad spectrum of “living” on the internet.  So I started and found it rather satisfying.

It falls into two parts. One is watching and reading and searching for mentions of the company or it’s competitors and their offers and secondly making comments and posts wherever a genuinely helpful and honest piece of puff would further the cause for the client.  The first is almost invisilbe but it helps to re-assure the client that there are no big deals happening below the surface which they should know about.

The reputation and the integrity of the client in real true life is far more important than the PR though… take note.

Well wiseness has been busy on everything except wiseness.  A few new diaries and a fantastically successful blog which has started to perform to the required & desired objectives almost immediately.  Plus daily blogging and even a little on-line PR which you don’t really want to shout about - or else you undermine the purpose.  Enough said.

Success is good and we’re hitting “page one” all over the place and making gains for our cients.  There’s not a site in our stable which isn’t marching onwards and upwards.  But all this does mean that wiseness gets fewer “wise words”.  Not that it matters because this site isn’t the important one - those are the wiseness’ client’s.

The sooner you get your url up there the better.  In this game longevity counts.  So if in doubt “publish and be found”… to paraphrase something totally irrelevant

Is it just me or does it seem to take a little longer to get picked up and first appear anywhere at all in Google, these days?  The BrightHouse Blog is up and looking pretty good I think.  Luckily Mr Beeswax and The Sheriff of Watford agree.

Now the annoying wait.  But given that I waited 7 months for the sign up and then 3 months for a go ahead - and then I got the whole thing ready and up & running in less than a week from then… we can all wait.  Check out the blog here…
