I did a post a couple of weeks ago titled SEO Petersfield which came about from my curiosity to see if there were any genuinely local companies who did search engine optimsation (SEO) in Petersfield.  As I commented, there were many companies pretending to be local but only one other who was actually in Petersfield.  Meanwhile my post had taken me onto page one of the search results for the same title.

So I thought what about if I did it again? I’d like to push off the pretend local ones…

Mind, I haven’t looked at the stas to see if anyone actually visited my site in response? Maybe there’s no demand. Let’s see. I’ll report back if there’s any traffic.

Last month saw the successful launch of Lok’nStore’s new 2012 website. The brief was not only to say friendly but to look friendly and to behave friendly. The friendly site was produced by Pepper Digital who took the brief and delivered a site that does what we asked.  How good to work with a London agency (in any discipline) who contribute significantly without being precious…

Since the site launched all significant stats are.. well, significant! It’s too commercially sensitive to go into details but the team at Lok’nStore are delighted and remain friendly!

One of my favourite bits is the storage space estimator.

Somebody’s site needs work especially for telemarketing in Woking and telemarketing  near Guildford because as of now there’s very little to tell us it’s there. I reckon that by tomorrow this will be higher for both these headers. it shouldn’t be difficult…

Maybe though this needs a few more words of explanation. You have to use the words, ideally in the headings, descriptions and subheads and ideally when you do that your system puts in the appropriate heading tags.

I wonder if tele-marketing ever comes in two words? We’ll see…

This reminds me of the SEO in Petersfield experiment that I did last week which was an instant winner straight onto page one. never ever underestimate the power of the location… especially when you’re near Petersfield, Woking or Guildford.

Sorry for anyone else reading this, if it doesn’t ring of “wiseness” but as I say it’s an experiment and there is method in my wiseness, I hope…

I’ve just done a search for SEO in Petersfield and all (or most) are national companies who have have cleverly created pages for every town – or at least ones that give the appearance of doing so.

It’s very clever but it is also misleading becasue they’re not doing their SEO in Petersfield.  But does that matter?  You can work on the net from anywhere.  And in any case do they not prove how good they are by doing what they do?  There is proof in the pudding…

Luckily wiseness is not just an SEO company*. We are based just outside Petersfield (and near Winchester) but in addition to search engine optimisation, we do PPC management and all kinds of other website and internet input.

PS if somewone in Petersfield wanted to do some seowork (or have their google ads managed or something else in this line) at least I could go and have a cup of coffee with them. wiseness has always been about the personal touch and the all round view of a real person.

* Can you imagine trying to beat all the big seo companies in London let alone the others who don’t need to be in London, at SEO by coming up in searches for “SEO”. Not likely… Mind I have used a company who were good enough to get themselves to number one spot for “seo agency” and that’s pretty smart but even they didn’t bother with “seo company”.

Everybody in the know knows that content is so important for websites but people spend a lot of time on other stuff that doesn’t always count in real true life and at the end of the day if you’re doing stuff that’s only there to trick search engines then they’ll catch up and make it less important still.  The latest changes in the way searches happen are updates to penalise tricks and reward real stuff.

So make your website work: Work for your customers or prospects and work to make it interesting and content rich.  Make if fresh and make it varied.  That way, it’s more genuinely good and that way it’ll be ahead of the game and not just a trick to try and catch up.  Time wil tell and if you’re in for the long haul (and why not) it’ll bring dividends.

Oh and by the way, content is what wiseness is good at.

… I like to get web alerts on that word.  If you ever want to keep up to date on anything (as far as the web is concerned, not necessarily all of real true life) the Google alerts are the thing, especially if you are careful to exclude words which change the nature if the information.  This is a bit like Pay Per Click advertising accounts where you have to add negatives*.

Anyway, one of these alerts bought the following quote to my attention… “Wise people are wise because they make foolish mistakes.” This is an original quote by BC from USA in the “quotes” section of a website called family friend poems And I suppose that I tend to agree ~ being of the “let’s try this… ” nature.  You do learn by mistakes and anyone who thinks you can only learn by success has more foolishness than wiseness.

You also learn by asking questions. Never be afraid to ask…

I’ve just read of the trend bucking increase in seo expenditure in 2010 up to £446m.  Analysts predict similar growth this year. That’s a happy new year to those of us with our livelihood in the seo world.

Meanwhile wiseness has a new client. News soon.  It’s always a bit of a thoughtful moment when to promote an seo client.  When they’re not as good as they could be when they’re new? Or when they are really performing well after the wiseness treatment.
