boost for Wickham Montessori School

wiseness gives the once over to local Montessori

A local friend wanted to get her nursery school in Hampshire upgraded so that prospective parents could find it on the big search engines… so we gave the site a comlplete basic overhaul with each page getting newnames, titles and descriptions (and yes keywords which some of us still use for the sake of it), proper distribution and use of headings. And whilst we were at it we gave it a once over on the graphic/structure front too. So it looks better and it certainly works better- for customers to navigate and to get information and for search…

The next step is to get onto the plus one page which seems to be the priority for results, when you do a local search. The top results are, at the moment, the ones with a plus one page. No bias there, then from our favourite search engine. Having said that the Facebook page for the school is higher than the local map listings. The school currently has kids from all over, including from Southampton & Portsmouth which are both quite some way… so in some ways the local-ness is only relative. If you searched in those cities you’d probably not get to our school because of the plethora or more-local schools. We shall see… maybe search isn’t the only way…

PS Having been reading info from Google about businesses disappearing from the results after optimisation and then the business panics and removes much of the optimisation (which to Google says they only did it for optimisation!). If they stood their ground and waited, apparently the business would improve in position if the optimisation was proper and not too spammy. So there’s a lesson… stick with your principles provided that you don’t “over-optimise”. Bide your time and you’ll come good…
